Which airport should I fly to?

Tips for your course at WEC

At the airport

London Heathrow Airport

For most people, the best airport to fly to is London Heathrow. It is London's largest airport, with flights to and from many airports all over the world. Weymouth English Centre runs special transfer coaches and minibuses between Heathrow and Weymouth, making the journey easy for you.

WEC leaders meet you in the arrivals hall at Heathrow and take you to our transfer coach or minibus. A leader accompanies you to Weymouth, where you will meet your hosts.
On the return journey, our leaders will take you to Heathrow Airport, help you check in, make sre you know where to go and they will wait at the airport until your flight has taken off. You will get their telephone numbers and if there are any problems they will be there to help you.

Important: to get a seat on a WEC transfer coach you need to book a flight that arrives in Heathrow between 09:00 and 17:00 on a Sunday. Your return flight should depart after 14:00 on the Saturday. If your flights are outside these times, you will need to book a transfer taxi.

The special coach transfer costs £150 for the journey from Heathrow to Weymouth and back to Heathrow at the end or £75 for a single journey.

Bournemouth Airport

Bournemouth is 60km from Weymouth and has a small airport. You can find a list of airports with flights to Bournemouth Airport here. We can arrange a taxi transfer to Weymouth for you.

Bristol Airport

Bristol is about 135km from Weymouth. You can fly there from Austria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and other countries - you can find the full list here. We can arrange a taxi transfer to Weymouth for you.

Southampton Airport

Southampton is 99km from Weymouth. You can fly here from a lot of airports in France as well as some in other countries in Europe - you can find a list here. We can arrange a taxi transfer to Weymouth for you.

London Stansted, Luton and London City Airports

You can sometimes get cheap flights to these airports but we do not recommend them. First, many of the airlines which fly to them do not allow unaccompanied children to fly with them. Secondly, Luton and Stansted are both north of London and a long way from Weymouth. You would need to book a taxi transfer to and from the airport, and this is expensive. However, if you come with one or more friends, this can be a good and viable option.

Taxi Transfers

If you can't fly to Heathrow Airport, we can arrange a WEC taxi transfer for you. The driver will meet you in the arrivals hall at the airport and bring you straight to your hosts in Weymouth. On the return journey the driver will collect you from your hosts, take you to the airport, help you check in, make sure you know where to go and will wait until your flight has left. You will have the driver's telephone number and he or she is there for you if you need any help.
